How to Look For and Book a Hall for a Baby Shower Party

July 30th, 2010

When planning for any affair the budget is always the first consideration. How much for food, the venue, the invitations, the extras and the decorations? These things all belong under the budget. But, when it comes to the booking of the venue where the shower is to be held, it is not just the budget that you have to think about. Here are a few tips on how to look for and book a hall for a baby shower party.

First of all, determine how many guests are to be invited and if the guests are coming in with cars. These need to be considered because a venue has to have a parking space that will fit the guests. If there is no parking space, where is the closest area where they could safely park their cars and walk safely to the hall?

With the parking and cars considered, determine if the number of guests coming to the party can fit the hall. Do not make it a tight squeeze simply because you do not have enough budget. If that were the case, invite less or look for a place bigger. Note: there are some venues which are larger and can hold a lot of people for a lesser cost simply because it is not as popular as the other smaller one.

Second consideration, make sure that the place is easy to find. If it is not a familiar place, make sure that you sketch the fastest way to reach the place at the back of the invitation or in a separate sheet of paper. Also, include the web address of the venue if they have it available. That way if the guests find the sketch confusing, they could actually Google the directions properly and not get lost.

Third consideration, make sure that there are powder rooms where the guests could relieve themselves. One of the most important things to look at when considering a venue is the powder room. There are some places that don’t offer good services in this area even if the venue is passable. The guests would not take kindly to unhygienic loos.

Fourth consideration is the food. Try to look for a venue that can also include catering services. There are a lot of venues which offer these services and actually present great tasting and looking food. If you choose the catering services of the venue, ask for sampling the dishes for approval. Now, if they don’t have these services, then you had better talk to the caterer on the food and how to get there. It would also be best to meet the caterer at the venue a few days before the party to make sure that they can reach there without difficulty and they could see the set up so they could present their catered food properly.

If the budget is really tight, think about holding the shower at a house of a friend who is willing to open her house for the party, or if not, think of having a garden party or a party at the park. You can make preparations for these places easily and with less cost. However, if a venue is what you are really looking for on a tight budget, then you will be limiting your choices. Just make sure that it is reachable and can offer comforts without making the guests and the mother to be uncomfortable.
